Koh-I-Noor means as “Mountain of Light” from Persian. It’s a 105 carat (21.6 grams) diamond that was once the largest known diamond in the world. The Koh-I-Noor was originated at Golconda in the Andhra Pradesh state of India. It was owned by various Sikh, Mughal and Persian rulers that fought each other from time to time. The stone was found to measure 36.00 × 31.90 × 13.04 mm. The gem remains the property of the British crown and is kept in HM Tower of London and it’s a popular tourist attraction.
Number one on this list is the Reed family. They are the largest land owners with 1.4 million acres of land. Now, they didn’t purchase all this land at once. It took years to accumulate this amount of acres, in fact it took generations to get this amount of land.
They have been purchasing land since the late 1800’s. The land was mainly purchased over the years to grow their lumber empire in the Northwest. In 2014 came their largest purchase of 600,000 acres of prime timberland in Orgeon. This was one of the largest land purchases in the U.S since John Malone, who purchased 1 million acres in Maine in 2011.
DisneyCollectorBR makes anywhere from $4.9 million to $13 million, making her quite possibly the richest YouTube millionaire. What adds to the success of DisneyCollectorBR is the fact that no one knows who she is, as she has yet to come forward and identify herself. The only thing that she has revealed is that she is from Brazil.
Also, her channel appeals to viewers of all ages, as most people love toys (especially Disney) regardless of their age. Her videos include opening the box, putting the toys together, and then playing with the toys. Her voice has become iconic, especially haunting parents as their little ones watch her videos constantly. Whatever this mystery woman is doing, it is certainly all working out in her favor.
This is one of those lists that you wouldn’t expect Lefty to be at the top of. After all, Mickelson has never gone this long in a PGA
Tour season without cracking the top ten on the final leaderboard. Undoubtedly a big reason for his struggles is a pain in his side that has forced him to withdraw from two tournaments already this year. But even a non-100% Mickelson is still pretty good: he has made eight of nine cuts and posted five top-25 finishes. He tied for 12th place at the Shell Houston Open, which netted him $125,440 and a little momentum going into the 2014 Masters, where he has earned three green jackets in the past decade. The career tally for Mickelson is always impressive to read: second on the all-time earnings list at over $73.6 million, 42 Tour victories, and five major titles including last year’s Open Championship.
Harvard University tops the list of colleges with 3,130 wealthy grads.
Reports states that in 2014, the world’s UHNW population – those with net assets of $30 million or more -totaled 211,275 individuals.
All ten universities are in the US. Harvard University came out on top with 3,130 UHNW alumni, nearly double that of the No. 2 college, University of Pennsylvania.
The sole west coast college, Stanford University, rounds out the top three.
Considering some of the world’s richest self-made billionaires dropped out of Harvard, Stanford, University of Chicago, and other schools on this list, the numbers of UHNW alumni could be even higher had they graduated.
Still, 5% of the UHNW population are alumni of these ten colleges.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Princess Salama – $100 Million.
Sheik Mohammed and Princess Salama married in 1981 and had one of the most expensive and extravagant weddings of all time. The ceremony wasn’t your typical wedding celebration as it actually lasted a total of seven days, and not only that, but a stadium that seated 20,000 was built for the wedding. The newly married couple rode on horseback throughout all of the towns that are located within the Emirates, and handed out food and gifts to the people of their country. The groom bought 20 camels decorated with luxurious jewels for the wedding and they delivered gifts for his beautiful bride.
By far the most expensive eBay auction was that for the Gigayacht, which is a gigantic, 405-foot long pleasure vessel with all the best seafaring luxuries that one might expect while traversing the seven seas.
Apparently, this beast has 10 suites of two or more stories, eight guest rooms, a movie theatre and a helicopter landing pad because it’s considered gauche to arrive on board through less expensive means.
The winning bid of $168 million was rumored to have been placed by superyacht collector Roman Abramovich, who felt like he needed another yacht in case his other hundred-million-dollar yachts break down.
This is the one, folks; this is the one that we’ll be remembered for. The human species will finally lay claim to being the most superior entity in the known universe when we can casually send our Grandmother on a dizzying ride around the globe from the comforts of low Earth orbit. And that’s just the start; companies like Virgin Galactic and SpaceX have been vying for some time to become among the first to commercialize space travel, and from all accounts they will have no shortage of willing customers.
There is no question that the allure of whipping over the Earth at hundreds of miles per second while floating in zero gravity will only increase over time as the technology and feasibility of this prospect grows ever closer. Like the first 747 and Concorde flights, the early experiences will obviously be cost prohibitive for most of us, but this will only improve as the industry advances and reduces the expense to an affordable luxury. As a result, the success of commercial space flight will probably be the single greatest payoff in the entirety of human industry, so book your flight now!
